The exhibit, featuring works from the 19th-century French artist's entire career, is up through Sept. Before Ridley Scott began filming his 2002 Oscar-winning blockbuster “Gladiator,” he was shown Jean-Léon Gérôme’s 1872 painting “Pollice Verso.” It was meant to inspire - as well as to instruct- the director. ![]()
